Vornado formally concludes $11M exterior rehab including retail at Hotel Pennsylvania

Vornado Realty Trust, on September 1, formally completed an $11 million exterior rehabilitation of the Hotel Pennsylvania at 401 Seventh Avenue in Penn Plaza.

The plans, pre-filed on December 7, 2001, call for a rehab of the facade of the building.

The project is described in the filings as: facade renovation and upgrade as indicated on drawings including replacement of cornice at roof and storefront at grade. No change in use egress/occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $11,000,000.

Vidaris, Inc. was the architect listed.

it has long been rumored that Hotel Pennsylvania would be replaced by a supertall skyscraper, with initial renderings released over a decade ago. However, new renderings were released last year for a 2.8-million-square-foot tower, called Penn15, which would be occupied by Facebook. However, no official plans have been filed with the DOB yet.
