Vornado files plans for a $5.9M rehab of several floors at 2 Penn Plaza
Vornado Realty Trust, on July 21, filed a permit application for a $5.9 million rehabilitation of multiple floors at 2 Penn Plaza in Penn Plaza.
The plans call for a rehab of floors three through 12 and 14 through 31 of the 408-foot tall, 31-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: filing herewith for interior non-structural demolition, inclusive of the removal of interior non-load bearing partitions and related finishes as per plans. no change in use, egress or occupancy proposed under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $5,944,400.
In late 2018, Vornado announced plans to redevelop 1 and 2 Penn Plaza into a two-building, 4.4-million-square-foot office campus. In total, the new design would create a three-block-long public plaza. At 2 Penn Plaza, the renovation would extend the first four stories of the building and tack on 145,000-square-feet of office space.
On December 12, 2018, Vornado filed $160 million plans for the project. However, the plans were disapproved on January 9, 2020.
