Vorea files plans to demolish three LIC buildings ahead of 499-unit development

The Vorea Group, on October 7, filed three permit applications for the demolition of a three buildings in Long Island City.

In late august, Peter Papamichael’s Vorea Group filed a permit application for construction of a 499-unit, 443,449-square-foot mixed-use building at 2-33 50th Avenue, the address of one of the three demolitions.

The new building plans were among the largest plans filed this year, and were the second largest filed in the borough of Queens.

According to the plans, the ground floor of the building will have community space, retail spaces, a residential lobby, courtyard, and game arcade. The second floor will have 57 dwelling units with multiple lounges and terraces. Floors three and four will also each have 57 dwelling units, along with an exercise room on the fourth floor. The remaining dwelling units will span floors four through 12.

The Vorea Group acquired the development site, along with Domain Companies and L+M Development Partners from Fortress Storage for $88.5 million earlier this month.

The first plans call for the demolition of a two-story building at 49-02 5th Street.
