Volunteers of America permitted for 118-unit resi building in Highbridge

Volunteers of America-Greater New York, on March 25, was given a permit for construction of a 118-unit, 76,123-square-foot residential building at 1746 Andrews Avenue South in Highbridge, the Bronx. Paul Kress, vice president of strategic initiatives for the nonprofit, filed the plans.

The plans, pre-filed on February 26, 2020, call for the construction of a 101-foot tall, nine-story residential building.

The project is described in the filings as: new nine-story residential apartment building, with Affordable Independent Residences for Seniors (AIRS) units.

Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have six dwelling units. Floors two through five will each have 14 dwelling units per floor, floors six and seven will each have 15 dwelling units per floor, the eighth floor will have 12 dwelling units, and the ninth floor will have 13 dwelling units.

The property was acquired for $4 million on March 13, 2019.
