Vanbarton Group receives TCO that upped Garment District rental units by 60 to 380

Vanbarton Group, on March 3, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for a $1.8 million project which increased by 60-units the number of apartments in the 386,382-square-foot residential building at 990 Sixth Avenue in the Garment District.

The plans, pre-filed on June 22, 2018, call for an increase of 60 units in the 240-foot tall, 24-story building, bringing the residential unit count to 380. The time from pre-file to TCO was two years and nine months.

The project is described in the filings as: Alteration 1 application for the re-densification of dwelling units on floors five through 24. Lobby, storefront renovations and egress changes on first floor as indicated on plans filed herewith. Obtain a new certificate of occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $1,800,000.

Fogarty Finger was the architect for the project.

The developer entered contract to buy the rental building for $320 million in 2017, 20 percent less than the asking price of $400 million.
