Tishman Speyer finishes a $6M rehab of the penthouse at 520 Madison Ave

Tishman Speyer, on June 18, completed a $6 million rehab of the 43rd floor of an office building at 520 Madison Avenue in Plaza District.

The plans, pre-filed on February 28, 2019, call for a rehab of the penthouse on the 43rd floor of the 645-foot tall, 43-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: removal and installation of interior non-bearing partitions and related finishes as per plans filed herewith. No change in use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,000,000.

On June 17, 2015, Tishman Speyer filed plans that would more than double the 7,100-square-foot space on the 43rd floor, which at the time was mainly used for mechanical equipment. The project transformed the floor into a 21,000-square-foot penthouse with a 2,200-square-foot terrace and views of Central Park. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2017 the total rehab cost for the 520 Madison penthouse would be $35 million.
