Rockefeller University finishes $1.8M mechanical, plumbing rehab of building in Lenox Hill

The Rockefeller University, on July 27, completed a $1.8 million mechanical and plumbing rehabilitation in the Caspary Auditorium at 1236 York Avenue in Lenox Hill.

The plans, pre-filed on April 13, 2015, call for a mechanical and plumbing rehab of the sub-cellar of the 72-foot tall, 6-story, building. Permits for the rehab were issued on October 13, 2015.

The project is described in the filings as: herewith filing for the removal of an emergency generator system. New generator proposed at an alternate location. Work to consist of mechanical and plumbing work as per submitted plans. There is no change to use, egress or occupancy under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $1,755,000.

The Caspary Auditorium is a 430-seat auditorium used for lectures, panel discussions, concerts and other events. It was designed by Harrison & Abramovitz.

No plans have been filed at the building since June of 2018.
