Tankhouse files plans for 26-unit mixed-use building in Fort Greene
Tankhouse, on January 20, filed a permit application for construction of a 26-unit, 45,638-square-foot mixed-use building at 134 Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Sebastian Mendez, founder of Tankhouse, filed the plans.
According to the developer’s website, the building will actually be roughly 87,000-square-feet and has an estimated completion in 2023. Renderings of the development can be seen below, also from the developer’s website.


The plans are one of nine new building plans filed in the neighborhood over the previous 12 months. The nine plans called for the construction of a total of 356 dwelling units in Fort Greene.
The plans call for the construction of an 85-foot-tall, eight-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00648774. The development site spans two tax lots.
The project is described in the filing as: construction of a new eight-story mixed-use building.
Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have retail space, a residential lobby, and the upper halves of two duplex units, the lower halves of which will be located in the cellar. The second floor will have four dwelling units and the lower halves of two duplex units. The third floor will have four dwelling units and the upper halves of two duplex units. The fourth floor will have three dwelling units, a terrace, and the lower halves of two duplex units. The fifth floor will have three dwelling units and the upper halves of two duplex units. Floors six through eight will each have three dwelling units per floor, the sixth floor will also have a terrace. The cellar will have a lounge, gym, yoga room, kid’s room, and a terrace.
The architect listed is Kane Architecture and Urban Design.
The property was acquired for $10 million on March 4, 2020.
