Swimming school files plans for a $2.1M conversion of Lester’s retail location in Yorkville

The national franchisor and operator Goldfish Swim School, on August 24, filed $1.5 million plans to convert the space owned and occupied by the well-known retailer Lester’s at 1534 Second Avenue in Yorkville, Manhattan into a swimming pool and swim instruction location. Brian Bayer, of Goldfish Swim School, filed the plans. Earlier plans were filed totaling $600,000 including for the fabricating of the pool.
The plans call for a change in the use of the building. This was filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number M00779667.
The building has long been owned by Perry Schorr of Lester’s. No sale has been recorded.
The project is described in the filing as: convert an existing commercial retail sales building into health and fitness establishment, all as per plan, obtain new certificate of occupancy upon completion. Separate applications are noted under the comments and additional information sections.
The architect listed is Frank Denner Architect.
The property was acquired for $7.6 million on June 10, 2008.
