Slate purchases Greenwich Village dorm from New School for $22.8M
Slate Property Group closed yesterday on the purchase of the 42-unit dormitory building at 118 West 13th Street in Greenwich Village for $22.85 million from The New School, according to Steve Figari, managing director at Slate Property Group. Slate is led by Martin Nussbaum and David Schwartz.
According to Crains, The New School was looking for $40 million for the building when they originally put it on the market in 2019.
The building has seven stories and a total of 33,975 square feet. Bob Knakal of JLL was the broker for the deal. The sale price was $673 per square foot.
According to a New York Observer article from 2009, the building was the most expensive dormitory in the country that year. The seven-story building has five to 13 bedrooms per floor.
