Simon Kaufman files plans demo at Gowanus site with no NB plans

Simon Kaufman through the company 159 Third Residence LLC, on January 26, filed a permit application for the demolition of a building at 159 3rd Avenue in Gowanus.

No new building plans have been filed at the site yet.

The plans are one of 29 demolition plans filed in Gowanus in the previous 12 months.

The neighborhood experienced an explosion of development in the fourth quarter of 2021, following the passing of extensive rezoning plans in Gowanus. This month there has only been one new building plan filed in the neighborhood.

The plans call for the demolition of a single-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: full demolition to a one-story structure
