Silverback files demo plans ahead of 200-unit development in Longwood Melrose
Silverback Development, on August 16, filed a permit application for the demolition of a 30,345-square-foot garage building at 586 Gerard Avenue in Longwood Melrose. Silverback is led by Josh Schuster.
The developer acquired the 31,000-square foot lot with the one-story garage covering nearly the entire parcel, for $16.9 million on September 2, 2020.
Shortly after, The Real Deal reported that the developer was planning to construct a $90 million, 200-unit development at the site. According to the report, 30 percent of units would be affordable and the building would have retail space and at least 71 parking spaces.
No official development plans have been filed yet with the city’s Department of Buildings.
The current plans call for the demolition of the single-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of existing one-story building.
Schuster was named last month in a lawsuit brought by a partner on a new development project in Gramercy.
