City to review Damien Smith’s rezoning plans for 217-unit mixed-use building in Astoria
The City Planning Commission is scheduled this week to review developer Damien Smith’s rezoning proposal to facilitate the development of a 240,976-square-foot mixed-use building with 217 dwelling units at 11-01 33rd Avenue in Astoria, Queens.
According to the application, the Queens Community Board 1 voted in favor of the proposal on May 18, which was followed by a month-long review from the borough president, which they then voted in favor of on August 4.
The City Planning Commission is now scheduled to review the proposal from August 18 through August 20.
PincusCo wrote about the plans after the land use application was filed in July of last year. The building will have approximately 28,686-square-feet of commercial space and approximately 212,290-square-feet of residential space.
The developer is seeking a zoning map amendment and zoning text amendments. The land use application was filed on July 15 and the fee was paid on July 16. The plans seek a zoning map amendment (from R5 to M1-4/R7A) and zoning text amendments (to ZR 123-90 and Appendix F) to facilitate the new building.
