Safe N Lock receives TCO for 27K sf storage building in Midwood

Safe N Lock Self Storage, on December 14, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for construction of a 27,846-square-foot storage building at 1241 Coney Island Avenue in Midwood.

The plans, pre-filed on August 11, 2017, call for the construction of a 60-foot tall, four-story building. The time from pre-file to TCO was three years and four months.

The project is described in the filings as: proposed self-storage facility, four-story new building with a cellar and sub-cellar. New 26-foot curb cut on the east side of Coney Island Avenue with two 2.5-foot splays on both sides, 28 feet north of Avenue I.

Aside from storage space, the structure will have an office, two parking spaces, and two loading berths on the ground floor level.

Butz Wilbern LTD is the architect listed.

The property was acquired for $6 million on October 11, 2017.

Safe N Lock filed for a series of new buildings during the first half of the year. Among them were plans for a 110,411-square-foot storage building at 581 Austin Place in Morrisania and a 97,337-square-foot storage building at 2636 Arthur Kill Road in Staten Island.
