RXR finishes $4.5M rehab of two floors at Starrett-Lehigh Building in Chelsea
RXR Realty, on July 9, completed a $4.5 million rehabilitation of two floors of an office building at 601 West 26th Street in Chelsea.
The plans, pre-filed on December 10, 2018, call for a rehab of the fifth and sixth floors of the 219-foot tall, 19-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: general construction on the fifth and sixth floors as per plans filed herewith. No changes in use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $4.5 million.
The building was constructed in 1930 as a joint venture between the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the Starrett Corporation. RXR acquired it with the help of a Canadian pension firm for $920 million on July 29, 2011.
RXR has been highly active with renovations so far in 2020 at 601 West 26th Street. The developer has filed 23 plans over the last sixth months. The two most recent plans were filed last week, on July 8 and 9.
