Fosun finishes $6.4M rehab to cellar, ground floor of 28 Liberty
Fosun International, on July 10, completed a $6.4 million exterior renovation to the ground floor and cellar of 28 Liberty Street in the Financial District, the office tower formerly known as One Chase Manhattan Plaza.
The plans, pre-filed on November 29, 2016, called for a rehab of the cellar and ground floor of the 770-foot tall, 60-story, building. The plans were permitted in May of 2017.
The project is described in the filings as: exterior renovations as per plans filed herewith. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,446,900.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is the architect on the application.
The Chinese conglomerate and investment company has filed 11 renovation plans so far this year. The largest of which called for a $3,900,000 rehab of the 53rd and 54th floors.
The property was acquired for $725 million on December 17, 2013. Around the time of the purchase, it was reported that Fosun, who outbid half a dozen other potential buyers, was potentially interested in bringing several Chinese companies in as tenants and planned to expand the ground floor retail space.
