RXR, LBA Logistics permitted for 770K sf Grand Logistics Center for Amazon in Maspeth

RXR Realty and LBA Logistics, on March 2, were given a permit for construction of a 770,822-square-foot storage building at 55-15 Grand Avenue in Maspeth. Todd Rechler of RXR filed the plans.

Amazon signed a lease for the entire building, its largest warehouse at the time of the report, in June of 2020.

The permit is a new building permit. The developers received foundation permits late last fall.

The plans, pre-filed on May 21, 2020, call for the construction of a 75-foot tall, five-story, 770,822-square-foot building. The original plans called for a slightly smaller building, at 736,867-square-feet.

The ground floor of the building will be comprised of loading docks, commercial vehicle storage, and warehouse space. The second floor will have additional warehouse space, offices, and a meeting/lunch room. The third floor will be used for required accessory parking for 146 vehicles. Floors four and five, along with the roof, will be used for commercial vehicle storage.

The plans have been in the works for years now. RXR and Los Angeles-based LBA Logistics teamed up to buy the properties at 54-15, 55-15 and 56-19 Grand Avenue for more than $72 million in January, 2018. The duo then filed demolition plans for two buildings on the property in January of 2019.
