Rockefeller permitted for $17.8M project to add eating, assembly space at former Time-Life Building

Rockefeller Group, on November 9, was given a permit for a $17.8 million change in use to parts of three floors of the 1.96 million-square-foot former Time-Life office building at 1271 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown West.

The plans, pre-filed in June, call for no change in size but a change in use of floors 43, 46, and 47 of the 574-foot tall, 47-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: (package 2 marketing floors 44, 47, 48) alt 1 filed to establish places of assembly on floors 43 and 47. Removal and installation of interior non-bearing partitions and related finishes as per plans filed herewith. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $17,820,627.

The work on the 43rd floor will establish a cafeteria, kitchen, and servery. A conference room with an occupancy of 128 individuals will be constructed on the 46th floor, in space currently occupied by private dining rooms and a bakery. Office space, a catering and banquet hall, a butcher shop, and kitchen on the 47th floor will be replaced with conference rooms for 97 individuals, a pantry, and a meeting hall for 173 individuals.

Perkins and Will are in charge of the project.
