Rivington Company files $5.3M plans to convert commercial building to 38-unit resi building in Bed-Stuy

Rivington Company, on September 21, filed a permit application for a $5.3 million project to convert a commercial building to a 38-unit, 38,211-square-foot residential building at 619 Throop Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The plans call a change in use of the 78-foot tall, five-story building. Travis Stabler, company founder, was the owners representative on the filing.

The project is described in the filings as: renovation and change of use of existing commercial building. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $5,250,000.

The cellar of the building will be converted from storage space to a laundry room, fitness rooms, a lounge, and commercial storage space, per the plans. Office space on the ground floor will be converted to a residential lobby, commercial space, and three dwelling units. Second floor office space will be converted to 11 dwelling units, while office space on floors three through five will be converted to eight dwelling units per floor.

Colberg Architecture is behind the design.

Rivington Company purchased the formerly state-owned building for $12 million from Voras Enterprise, a nonprofit affiliated with the Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corp. in June of 2019.
