UWS’s Riverside Memorial Chapel permitted for $2M exterior rehab
Riverside Memorial Chapel, on August 10, was given a permit for a $2 million rehabilitation of the building’s exterior at 180 West 76th Street in the Upper West Side.
The plans, pre-filed on September 20, 2019, call for a rehab of the outside space, facade, and roof of the 50-foot tall, four-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: facade restoration as per plans including the removal, repair and replacement of existing steel lintels, masonry replacement as well as patching of cracks and repointing. Roof replacement complete with flashing and gutter replacement as per drawings filed herewith. No change in use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $1,961,000.
Scott Henson Architect is the architect listed on the application.
The Riverside Memorial Chapel, whose 180 West 76th Street building opened in 1927, has provided funeral services to New York City’s Jewish community since 1897.
No plans have been filed at the building since the September 2019 plans.
