Rentar permitted for $6.1M rehab in Glendale before Amazon move-in

Rentar Development, on August 28, was given a permit for a $6.1 million renovation of a retail building in Rentar Plaza at 66-26 Metropolitan Avenue in Glendale.

The plans, pre-filed on February 28, call for a rehab of the ground floor and mezzanine of the 58-foot tall, two-story, building. Mark DiSanti of Rentar was the owner representative in the filing.

The project is described in the filings as: proposed interior renovation of existing space. All other work types shall be filed separately. All as per plans submitted herewith. No change in use, egress or occupancy. Alteration 1 – DOB 421945532. Interior removal DOB 421755 513. Mechanical – Q00318511-i 1. Plumbing – q00311739-i-1. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,142,000.

Earlier this year, Amazon signed a lease for 300,000-square-feet of space in the plaza. The deal has the e-commerce company taking over a 109,000-square-foot space previously occupied by the Metropolitan Museum of Art before their lease expired last month, as well as 190,000-square-feet of vacant space.
