Polish mutual aid organization receives TCO for $5M project to add concert hall to 23K sf building in Gramercy

The Polish Army Veterans’ Association in America, on October 16, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for a $5 million project which added a concert hall to a 23,481-square-foot building at 17 Irving Place in Gramercy.

The plans, pre-filed on May 13, 2019, call for work on the cellar, mezzanine, roof, and all three floors of the 40-foot tall, three-story building. The time from pre-file to TCO was one year and five months.

The project is described in the filings as: herewith filing alteration 1 to increase occupant loads and subsequent changes to egress. Work also consist of interior renovations, replacement of mechanical/HVAC equipment and the replacement of several windows. No enlargement or change in building bulk proposed under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $4,960,000.

The ground floor of the building will go from two eating and drinking establishments to one, per the plans. The mezzanine and second floor will both get a concert/dance hall and theater for live performances.
