Jeff Bezos units at 212 Fifth Avenue to be formally combined into quintuplex
Madison Equities, on October 16, filed a permit application for a $5 million project to formally combine dwelling units owned by Jeff Bezos on five floors of the 172,046-square-foot condo building at 212 Fifth Avenue in Flatiron into a single quintuplex apartment. The condo currently has a sellout of over $497 million.
The plans call for work on floors 19 through 23 of the 299-foot tall, 24-story building. The applicant of record was Donald C. McBride of McBride Architecture.
The project is described in the filings as: filing herewith apartments combination on the 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23rd floors as indicated and obtain new certificate of occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $5 million.
According to the plans, the building will go from 53 dwelling units to 51 dwelling units. The work is being done on units which were purchased by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Bezos purchased three of the units for $80 million in 2019, before adding a fourth earlier this year for $16.1 million.
