Plans filed for 28K sf house of worship in Longwood Melrose

Amara Kenneh, on August 18, filed a permit application for construction of a 28,018-square-foot house of worship with classroom space at 1051 Sherman Avenue in Longwood Melrose, Bronx.

The plans call for the construction of a 80-foot-tall, seven-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number X00572768. The development site spans one tax lot.

The project is described in the filing as: new construction of house of worship and academy with cellar and seven floors. Masjid Nur Al-Islam, a nonprofit organization. Certificate number ex 235444, issued June 22, 2004.

According to the plans, floors one through three of the building will be used for a house of worship. Floors four through seven will be used for academic space. The seventh floor will also have two dwelling units.

The architect listed is Amrarch Design Studio.

The property was acquired for $300,000 on April 23, 2010.
