Permit for $3M project to add cafeteria to Amazon-leased building in Hudson Yards.
On March 11, a permit was issued for a $3 million project to add a cafeteria to a 490,727-square-foot office building at 460 West 34th Street in Hudson Yards.
Mark Karasick’s 601W Companies acquired the building in a transaction which had a reported “gross consideration” of $952.5 million in January. The building was acquired from SL Green, which filed the plans to add the cafeteria space. SL Green retained a five percent stake in the new ownership.
601W Companies signed a loan agreement with lender JPMorgan Chase Bank valued at $565 million to facilitate the transaction in January.
In December of 2019, Amazon signed a lease for 335,000-square-feet of space in the building.
The plans, pre-filed on September 3, 2020, call for an increase in occupancy and change in use to part of the 15th floor of the 200-foot tall, 19-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: Alt-1 application filed herein to increase occupant load and change of use on 15th floor. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,050,000.
The project will nearly double the office space on the 15th floor as well as add a cafeteria.
Design Republic is the architect listed.
