Permit for $2.3M three-story enlargement of Kensington resi building

John Lam through the company Linden 88 Inc., on March 8, was given a permit for a $2.3 million project which will add three stories and six units to a residential building at 915 55th Street in Kensington, Brooklyn.

The plans, pre-filed on June 12, 2018, call for the increase in the size of the building from a 25-foot tall, two-story, 2,706-square-foot residential building with two dwelling units to a 55-foot tall, five-story, 9,065-square-foot building with six residential units.

The project is described in the filings as: proposed horizontal enlargement at first and second floor, and vertical enlargement at third to fifth floor. Convert existing two-family to eight-family and community facility mixed use building. Obtain new certification of occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $2,303,550.

The project, per the plans, will convert the ground floor of the building to a day care. The second floor will go from one dwelling units to two dwelling units. Newly constructed floors three through five will each have two dwelling units per floor. The cellar will also have daycare space.

The property was acquired for $2.7 million on April 27, 2018.
