Office rehab roundup: Boston Properties and Brookfield

Boston Properties, on September 16, filed a permit application for a $9.6 million rehabilitation of two floors at 599 Lexington Avenue in the Plaza District.

The plans call for a rehab of floors four and five of the 650-foot tall, 47-story building.

The project is described in the filings as: interior renovation of the fourth and fifth floors as per plans filed herewith. Updates on interior layout, no change to use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $9,625,000.

The architect named is Perkins and Will.

The firm has actively been renovating the building so far this year, with over 35 plans filed.

Boston Properties has also been active at their other buildings in the city, filing plans for a $12.2 million fit-out of one floor of the General Motors Building, at 767 Fifth Avenue in the Plaza District in July.

Brookfield Properties, on September 15, filed a permit application for a $3.1 million rehab of two floors at 15 Metrotech Center in Fort Greene.

The plans call for a rehab of floors seven and eight of the 220-foot tall, 19-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: removal and installation of interior partitions associated with renovation of partial seventh and eighth floors. Application filed in conjunction with DOB Now# b0039389, b00393401, b00393432. No change in use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,133,000.

LB Architects is listed as the architect for the project.

Brookfield also filed $50,000 plans to increase the office space on the two floors.

The multi-block office campus, which totals roughly 5.5 million-square-feet, also includes street-level retail space.
