NYC School Construction Authority finishes two renovations, totaling $16M, permitted for a third
The NYC School Construction Authority, on June 18 and 19, completed two renovations totaling $16 million and was permitted for a third project.
In the largest of the three projects, the NYC SCA, on June 19, completed a $14.9 million renovation of the Bayard Taylor School, PS 158, an elementary school located at 1458 York Avenue in the Upper East Side.
The plans, pre-filed on January 24, 2014, call for a renovation of floors one through five of the 75-foot tall, five-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: face brick replacement, back up masonry repair/stabilization, decorative masonry replacement, parapet replacement, waterproofing/flashing replacement, remove and reinstall existing windows, roof replacement, interior finish repairs. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $14,876,480.

In the second project, NYC SCA, on June 18, completed a $10.6 million renovation of I.S. 211, the John Wilson Intermediate School at 1001 East 100th Street in Brooklyn.
The plans, pre-filed November 7, 2014, call for a renovation of the basement and outside space of the 38-foot tall, three-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: various alterations to mitigate consequences of future flooding per appendix G, including: raising concrete curbs, flood barriers, backwater valves, and submersible pumps powered. Replacement of boilers and conversion from oil to natural gas. Remove two fuel oil tanks. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $10,600,000.

In the third, NYC SCA, on June 19, was given a permit for a $6 million renovation of a building at P.S. 247, the College Partnership Elementary School, at 7000 21st Avenue in Bensonhurst.
The plans, pre-filed on May 17, 2019, call for a renovation of the basement, roof, and floors one through four of 65-foot tall, four-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: provide waterproofing membrane on all sides, provide control joints, install metal siding on interior face of parapet wall facing rear of the building to a minimum height of 3′-6′ above high point of roof. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6 million.
