NYC receives TCO following construction of 54K sf school in Gowanus
The New York City School Construction Authority, on August 18, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for construction of a 54,165-square-foot school building at 420 Union Street in Gowanus.
The plans, pre-filed on September 29, 2016, call for the construction of a 46-foot tall, three-story school building. The time from pre-file to TCO was three years and 11 months.
The project is described in the filings as: PS 32K- herewith filing for three-story new building public school as shown on drawings filed herewith.
According to the plans filed, the basement of the building has office and storage space, a kitchen, servery, dining area, and library. The first and second floor will be used for classroom space, while the first floor also has a playground. The Schedule A makes no reference to the third story of the building.
The architect listed is Edelman Sultan Knox Wood Architects.
The NYC SCA has completed numerous new school building developments recently. On August 17, the NYC SCA received a TCO for construction of a 52,485-square-foot school building at 128-05 9th Avenue in College Point, Queens. On August 10, they were issued a temporary certificate of occupancy following construction of a 31,673-square-foot school building at 15 A Fairfield Street in Staten Island.
