NYCHA fully permitted for $7M in rehabs of two Coney Island buildings damaged in Hurricane Sandy

The New York City Housing Authority, on December 14, was given permits for two rehabilitation projects, totaling $7 million, of residential buildings at 2940 West 31st Street and 2950 West 31st Street in Coney Island.

The first plans, pre-filed on October 25, 2017, call for a rehab of the cellar and ground floor of the 134-foot tall, 15-story, building at 2940 West 31st Street.

The project is described in the filings as: restoration of the existing lobbies, cellar and first floor including exterior flood proofing. Work filed for restoration of buildings damaged during Hurricane Sandy is part of the Sandy recovery program. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,622,500.

On the same day, NYCHA was given a permit for a $3.4 million rehab of a building at 2950 West 31st Street in Coney Island.

The plans, also pre-filed on October 25, 2017, call for a rehab of the cellar and ground floor of the 125-foot tall, 14-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: restoration of the existing lobbies, cellar and first floor including exterior flood proofing. Work filed for restoration of buildings damaged during Hurricane Sandy as is part of the Sandy recovery program The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,412,500.
