NYC finishes $21.5M project to establish Covid-19 recovery center in Tremont
New York City, on November 13, formally completed a $21.5 million project to establish a Covid-19 recovery center for NYC Health + Hospitals at 4215 Park Avenue, a residential building known as Tremont Renaissance in Tremont, the Bronx. The building itself was developed by Mastermind Development, the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and the Housing Development Corporation.
The plans, pre-filed on May 8, 2020, by NYC HHC call for work on the cellar and floors one and two of the 124-foot tall, 12-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: “herewith filing for post-Covid-19 recovery center (Covid-19 center for excellence) for NYC Health + Hospitals. It is proposed to install new non-load bearing partitions, hung ceilings and finishes, as per plans filed. There is no change in occupancy, use or egress under this application. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $21.5 million.
Perkins Eastman was the architect for the project.
The building is part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Affordable Housing 2.0 agenda, which aims to construct 300,000 affordable units by 2026.
