Nonprofit plans 205 affordable units in Melrose
A nonprofit operating through the company Our Lady of Pity Apartments LLC is planing to construct two affordable residential buildings, with a total of 185,396 square feet and 205 dwelling units. In the development, 100 percent of the units will be affordable to low-income individuals and families. According to the plans, the buildings will provide active recreational space and play areas for the residents of the buildings and their children. No parking space will be provided.
The plan was disclosed in an application seeking a zoning map change to rezone the project area from an R6 & R6/C1-4 district
to an R7A & R7A/C1-4 district and a zoning text amendment (Appendix F) to map an MIH area over the project area.
The development site is comprised of Lot 14, a through lot, and Lots 72 and 77, with a total lot area of 40,795-square-feet. The site has 200-feet of frontage along East 150th Street and 150-feet of frontage along East 151st Street.
The out parcels are Lots 1 and 3 through 9 along Morris Avenue between East 150th Street and East 151st Street.
