Nonprofit files plans for 66-unit resi building in East New York

Concern for Independent Living, Inc., on October 22, filed a permit application for construction of a 66-unit, 52,107-square-foot residential building at 2602 Pitkin Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Ralph Fasano, executive director at Concern for Independent Living, filed the plans.

According to the organization’s website, Concern for Independent Living is one of the largest housing agencies of this kind in New York State, currently serving over 1,100 individuals and families in over 240 locations.

In July, the developer was given a permit for construction of a 58-unit, 36,612-square-foot residential building at 410 Warwick Street in East New York, Brooklyn.

The plans call for the construction of a 89-foot-tall, nine-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00614012. The development site spans one tax lot.

According to the plans, the units will be a mix of apartments and sleeping accommodations connect to the non-profit.

The project is described in the filing as: Construct nine Non Profit Institution With Sleeping Accommodations (NPISA) Building as per plans filed. Please assign this application to Development Hub HPD Unit, Consultation scheduled for 10.25.2021 at 10AM.

Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have recreation space, offices, a conference room, fitness room, and laundry. The second floor will have three dwelling units and six non-profit rooms with sleeping accommodations. Floors three through five will each have four apartments and five non-profit rooms with sleeping accommodations per floor. Floors six and seven will each have four apartments and four non-profit rooms with sleeping accommodations. The eighth floor will have seven non-profit rooms with sleeping accommodations and a terrace, while the ninth floor will have six non-profit rooms with sleeping accommodations and one apartment unit.

The architect listed is Dattner Architects.

The property was acquired for $4.4 million on February 11, 2021.
