McSam Hotel to demolish Midtown West building ahead of 169-key hotel development

Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, on October 22, filed a permit application for the demolition of a 15,000-square-foot building at 777 Eighth Avenue in Midtown West.

The plans call for the demolition of a building, which is located between 47th and 48th streets.

The project is described in the filings as: filing for full demolition of three-story building.

McSam Hotel Group filed plans for construction of a 169-key, 50,000-square-foot hotel building at the development site in late July. Those plans have not yet been permitted.

Gene Kaufman will be designing the new hotel for the hotelier, one of the most active in the city.
