Marriott hotel finishes $3M multi-room rehab in FiDi

New York Marriott Downtown, on October 9, completed a $3 million rehabilitation of several floors of a hotel building at 85 West Street in the Financial District.

The plans, pre-filed on October 19, 2018, call for a rehab of floors five through 37 of the 353-foot tall, 37-story, building. An affiliate of Marriott has owned the building since 1997.

The project is described in the filings as: interior renovation of room toilets, partitions, ceilings and doors as shown on drawings. No change to use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,000,000.

MLG Architects was the architect for the project.

The hotel has filed two A2 rehab projects so far this year, both calling for work on the building’s lobby.

Another NYC Marriott hotel, Marriott East Side, was recently sued by the building’s landlord, an Ashkenazy Acquisition-backed joint venture, for the alleged misappropriation of $12 million. According to reports, the lawsuit seeks $42 million for breach of contract.
