Hudson Companies files plans for 311-unit mixed-use building, most units planned in East Williamsburg in 20 years

Hudson Companies, on December 13, filed a permit application for construction of a 311-unit, 457,444-square-foot mixed-use building at 89 Maspeth Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Sally Gilliland, a principal and COO with Hudson, filed the plans.
According to a PincusCo analysis of new building plans filed with the NYC DOB, these plans call for the construction of the most dwelling units in East Williamsburg in at least the last 20 years.
The developer recently filed plans for the construction of a 178-unit, 183,182-square-foot mixed-use building at 975 Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights. The plans called for the construction of the most dwelling units in the neighborhood this year.
The plans call for the construction of a 135-foot-tall, 18-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00587387. The development site spans multiple tax lots.
The project is described in the filing as: filing to erect an 18-story mixed-use building. Affordable housing.
Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have office space, a cafeteria, community space, a children’s room, laundry, storage space, a lounge, study, residential space, clinic, fitness room, and multipurpose room. The second floor will have 23 dwelling units. Floors three through six will each have 26 dwelling units per floor, while floors seven through 12 will each have 23 dwelling units per floor. The 13th floor will have two community rooms, a terrace and six dwelling units. Floors 14 through 18 will each have eight dwelling units per floor. The cellar will have storage, utility rooms, locker rooms, a beak room, and a workshop.
