Hudson Companies files $15.6M plans to convert East Williamsburg medical building to 200-bed shelter
Hudson Companies, on October 26, filed plans for a $15.6 million project which will convert a building from nurse residencies to a 200-bed shelter at 300 Skillman Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The building is owned by the City of New York.
These are the most expensive alteration plans filed with the city’s Department of Buildings for work at 300 Skillman Avenue. Additionally, they are the first alteration plans calling for over $1 million of work at the building since 2007.
The plans at the 65-foot tall, four-story building were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00587567.
The project is described in the filing as: Filing to convert existing building from nurse residences to a 200-bed shelter. Also filing to enlarge building horizontally at basement.
Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will be converted from the nurses’ dining room, lounge, and office space to non-profit space, recreation space, a dining area, and laundry room. Floors two and three will be converted from nurse champers to sleeping accommodations with 67 beds, while the fourth floor will be converted from nurse champers to sleeping accommodations with 66 beds.
