HPD and East Brooklyn Congregation receive TCO for 80-unit mixed-use building in East New York
The city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and East Brooklyn Congregation, on February 4, were issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for construction of an 80-unit, 69,754-square-foot residential and office building at 516 Schroeders Avenue in East New York. Rona Reodica of HPD filed the plans. According to reports, the East Brooklyn Congregation is the main entity behind the development.
The building is part of the Nehemiah Spring Creek project, a multiphase initiative that aims to transform 45 acres of former wetlands and landfill into affordable apartment rentals, townhouse home ownership, and retail space.
The plans, pre-filed on September 12, 2017, call for the construction of a 70-foot tall, seven-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: construct new seven-story building.
The dwelling units will be geared for low-income senior citizens.
The ground floor of the building has retail space, a lobby, office space, community space, senior activity room, and recreation space. The second floor has laundry, 16 dwelling units, and a lounge. The third floor has a nurse’s office, 16 dwelling units, and exercise room. The fourth floor also has 16 dwelling units. The fifth floor has 13 dwelling units. The sixth floor has 12 dwelling units and amenity space, while the seventh floor has seven dwelling units.
The building was designed by SLCE Architects.
