Harry Bajraktari plans 146-room hotel, 56-unit apartment building in the Bronx

Harry Bajraktari plans to build a 146-room hotel and a 56-unit residential building on a property spanning seven lots including 2450 Arthur Avenue in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx.

The seven-story residential building will have 56-units and the thirteen-story hotel will have 146-rooms. The plans are for a property that spans seven lots. Each of the lots is currently occupied by a building, according to New York City’s Zoning and Land Use Map. Demolition plans were filed for a 2-story residential building on one of the lots, with the address 2461 Hughes Avenue, on February 14, 2020.

The plans were disclosed in a zoning map amendment from R6 and R6/C2-4 to C6-1 and extending a C1-2 commercial overlay and zoning text amendment to designate the project area as a mandatory inclusionary housing area in order to facilitate the construction of the two new buildings. If the development moves forward, approximately 156 total parking spaces would be provided at 2450 Arthur Avenue.

The land use application was filed on July 16 and the fee was paid on July 17.

Harry Bajraktari, along with his partner Rrustem Gecaj, own and operate Bajraktari Realty Management Corp. In October 1978, the partners purchased their first piece of property in the Bronx, which they still own. Today, their portfolio has grown to over 70 buildings throughout the Bronx, Manhattan and Yonkers, according to the firm’s website. Projects also include residential developments in New York State and Florida, as well as some commercial properties in Kosovo, where the two emigrated from. They are active members of the Albanian-American community, according to the website.
