Damien Smith plans 217-unit mixed-use building in Astoria

Damien Smith plans to build a 217-unit mixed-use building at 11-01 33rd Avenue in Astoria, Queens.

The plans say the building will have “approximately” 217 residential units and 30,000 square feet for commercial and manufacturing uses. The property is currently vacant according to the city’s Department of City Planning data.

The plans were disclosed in a zoning map amendment and zoning text amendments. The land use application was filed on July 15 and the fee was paid on July 16. The plans seek a zoning map amendment (from R5 to M1-4/R7A) and zoning text amendments (to ZR 123-90 and Appendix F) to facilitate the new building.

Denis Xhari was the signatory for the entity that purchased the property for $5.29 million on October 10, 2018. It was recorded on October 16, 2018.

Damien Smith, with the name Prosper Property Group, purchased 61-63 Pitt Street on the Lower East Side this month for $10.5 million.

No plans have been filed with the NYC Department of Buildings since the property was acquired.
