GVA Realty files demo plans ahead of 51-unit mixed-use building in Rego Park
GVA Realty, on August 25, filed a permit application for the demolition of a building at 98-60 Queens Boulevard in Rego Park, Queens.
In late June the developer filed a permit application for construction of a 51-unit, 46,999-square-foot mixed-use building at the property, which is the site of a historic Jewish funeral home known as Parkside Memorial Chapels. Owners of the funeral home filed plans last year to demolish parts of the structure in preparation of the development. The demolition and redevelopment news generated some backlash from the community.
The new building plans were one of two plans filed in the neighborhood for new development this year. The other plans were for a small single-family building. In the last three years there have only been plans filed for one building larger than GVA’s plans in the neighborhood.
The plans call for the demolition of a two-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: proposed demolition of existing two-story building
The property was acquired for $10.9 million on July 6, 2021.
