Gotham Organization permitted for 116-unit mixed-use building in LES
Gotham Organization, on April 22, was given a permit for construction of a 116-unit, 89,032-square-foot mixed-use building at 64 Norfolk Street in the Lower East Side. David Picket, CEO of Gotham Organization, filed the plans. The building will include a synagogue on the ground and second floors.
The building is the smaller in a two-building development planned by Gotham for the neighborhood. The larger of the two plans, which was given initial construction permits earlier this year, calls for the construction of a 366-unit, 376,987-square-foot mixed-use building at 55 Suffolk Street. Together the two structures will have 488 dwelling units, 43 percent of which will be permanently affordable, per reports.
The 64 Norfolk plans, pre-filed on April 10, 2020, call for the construction of a 163-foot tall, 17-story mixed-use building.
The project is described in the filings as: filing for new 17-story residential building with ground floor public assembly as per plans.
According to the plans, there will be a public assembly in the form of a synagogue on the ground floor and a synagogue/parish house on the second floor, along with seven apartments. Floors three through 12 will each have nine apartments per floor and floors 14 through 16 will each have six apartments per floor. The 13th floor will be used as an accessory residential amenity space.
