Extell files demo plans for three buildings at Yorkville site with no NB plans
Extell Development, on June 7, filed three permit applications for the demolition of three buildings at 1643, 1647, and 1649 First Avenue in Yorkville.
According to a report from Yimby, the cumulative 5,625-square-foot site has 75 feet of street frontage.
No new building plans have been filed yet, and it is not clear what the developer plans to do with the site once it is cleared. However, a 2018 report from Curbed stated the assemblage could someday accommodate a 250,000-square-foot tower.
The first plans, pre-filed on June 7, 2021, call for the demolition of a four-story building at 1649 First Avenue
The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of building using hand held and partial mechanical means to assist as per plans filed herewith.
The property was acquired with two other properties for $18.1 million on January 28, 2014.
