Extell demolishes six-story building on Midtown West parcel which lacks new DOB plans
Extell Development, on November 16, completed the demolition of a 25,248-square-foot building at 201 West 54th Street, at the corner of Seventh Avenue, in Midtown West.
The plans, pre-filed on June 10, 2019, call for the demolition of a six-story building. The owner representative in the filing was David Rothstein of Extell.
The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of six-story brick building.
The building is part of a three-building assemblage where Extell had originally planned to construct a 60-story hotel-condo tower that could have been upwards of 370,000-square-feet. The other two buildings, occupying tax lots 26 and 21 have addresses of 211 West 54th Street and 1710 Broadway.
In 2018, reports circulated that Extell’s plans had changed, and the developer was now looking to sell off one of the lots in the ballpark of $200 million.
It is unclear what Gary Barnett’s plans are for the property moving forward.
