Catholic Church finishes $6.7M renovation of Bayside school building leased to city
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, on September 3, formally completed a $6.7 million rehabilitation of a building leased to the city for an elementary school at 56-10 214th Street in Bayside, Queens.
The plans, pre-filed on April 9, 2019, call for a rehab of the basement, roof, and both floors of the 24-foot tall, two-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: filing herewith for the interior renovation of the existing space. There will be no change in egress, occupancy or use. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $6,678,637.
SBLM Architects was responsible for the project.
The building, rebranded as the Bayside Elementary School, has been leased by the NYC SCA since February of 2019.
Diocese completed a $2 million rehab of the roof and facade of a building back in July.
