Community Access fully permitted for construction of 201K sf mixed-use building in Longwood Melrose

Community Access, on August 12 and 18, was given permits for construction of a 245-unit, 201,136-square-foot mixed-use building at 1169 River Avenue in Longwood Melrose in the Bronx. Community Access is a supportive housing and social service non-profit for people with mental health concerns in the city.

The plans, pre-filed on February 19, 2019, call for the construction of a 195-foot tall, 19-story mixed-use building.

The project is described in the filings as: new nineteen-story mixed use dwelling.

The building will have 87,251-square-feet of residential space, 21,604-square-feet of commercial space, and 92,281-square-feet of community space. The residencies start on the second floor and are split between supportive class “A” units and class “A” units. The building have commercial space, numerous recreation spaces, dining areas, an art studio, primary care offices, and storage space. The building also has a 30-foot long rear yard, and the plans indicate there will be 55 enclosed parking spaces.

The architect listed is Ariel Aufgang of Aufgang Architects.

Demolition plans were filed last year.

The property was acquired for $11.3 million on August 15, 2018.
