Columbia University files plans for demo at site of proposed sports complex Inwood
Columbia University, on May 6, filed a permit application for the demolition of a structure at 603 West 218th Street in Inwood, in Manhattan.
The plans call for the demolition of a single-story structure.
The project is described in the filings as: full demolition of one-story structure with attached tennis courts in air supported structure. Using hand held and mechanical means to demolish concrete slabs, foundation walls and footings, and site to be back-fill and graded.
In late July of 2020, the university filed a permit application for construction of 50,112-square-foot sports complex at the site. The building would have a tennis court, locker rooms, lounges and offices, according to the plans.
However, the plans were disapproved last month on April 30. It is unclear is the university expects to change the original plans.
