City permitted for $7.6M mechanical project at 136K sf residential building in Coney Island
The New York City Housing Authority, on May 6, was given a permit for a $7.6 million mechanical service project at a 136,604-square-foot residential building at 2950 West 35th Street in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Michele Moore filed the plans.
The project is part of a restoration is associated with a Hurricane Sandy resiliency and renewal initiative. According to the Housing Authority’s website, 35 NYCHA developments damaged by Hurricane Sandy are now receiving resiliency funding, 20 NYCHA developments are receiving new heating and hot water systems housed in elevated and flood-proofed structures, and 210 buildings will be powered by permanent, full-load generators in case of power outages.
The plans, pre-filed on March 1, 2017, calls for work on the roof, cellar, and floors one and two of the 126-foot tall, 14-story building.
The project is described in the filings as: addition of two-story accessory mechanical service on the side of an existing 14-story building as a part of restoration associated with Sandy resiliency and renewal by NYCHA. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $7,607,000.
