Columbia Property completes $7M build-out for Snapchat at former New York Times Building
Columbia Property Trust, on May 29, completed a $7 million tenant build-out in the office portion of the commercial building at 229 West 43rd Street in Times Square for tenant Snapchat.
The plans, pre-filed October 13, 2015, call for work on the ground floor, 14th floor, 15th floor, and 15th floor, of the 273-foot tall, 16-story, building.
The project is described in the filings as: Snapchat-filing herewith for the removal and installation of interior non load bearing partitions and related finishes as per plans filed herewith. No change in use egress or occupancy. 14th floor construction is 15th floor marketing, 15th floor construction is 16th floor marketing, 15th mezzanine construction is 16th mezzanine marketing floor. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $7 million.
Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, added 26,000-square-feet of leased space at 229 West 43rd Street in 2017, bringing their total to 121,000-square-feet at the time.
Columbia Property Trust purchased the office condo at the top of the building in 2015 from Blackstone Group for $516 million. The four-floor retail portion of the building, is owned by Kushner Companies, which it purchased in May 2015 for $296 million.
