City permitted for demolition of Sunnyside building ahead of 600-seat school

New York City School Construction Authority, on May 20, was given a permit for the demolition of a building at 38-04 48th Street in Sunnyside, Queens.

The plans, pre-filed on September 6, 2018, call for the demolition of two-story building.

The city agency proposed plans for a 600-seat middle school at the property in 2016. According to a report, the SCA was waiting for City Council approval of the project prior to purchasing the site.

The property was acquired from Shore Family Real Estate LLC for $12.8 million on January 10, 2018.
